email: •Tim Robertson • •Russ Walkowich•   PC Weenies! Starting this month, My Mac is very proud to welcome a new feature to our website. Krishna Sadasivam's brand new comic strip, The PC Weenies, will now be a weekly event at ! I want to offer our heartiest welcome to Krishna and The PC Weenies! I'm sure every one of our My Mac readers will laugh as much as I do when a new installment is posted! A strange one... Ever have your Mac lockup (crash) on you while playing a music CD? That happened to me the other day. No, neither the CD nor the player caused the crash (that I blame on America Online's Instant Mesenger). So the whole system is locked up tight, and I have to reboot. The cursor is dead on screen, a few windows are only half-drawn. Yup, a real good crash! However, the music is still playing just fine! The speakers are working, the CD is still playing, the next track starts, everything sounding great! Guess the Mac wanted to hear the music more than it felt like doing anything else... Still such a deal! You can still buy a copy of The Stocking Stuffer Steve Book by Susan Howerter! Simply go to for more details, or send $9.95 to: APPLECART INK 6021 SW 29th Street Suite A 248 Topeka KS, 66614 AOL to purchase Netscape The latest news just before we finished up the December issue was that America Online had purchased Netscape for 4.2 billion dollars worth of stock... amazing! I'm just wondering how long it will be before Microsoft goes running to the Justice Department claiming that AOL is the world's largest monopoly and needs to be brought under control... Want your thoughts! We would like to hear your thoughts on the whole Microsoft trial. Send your letter to editor@mymac.com or publisher@mymac.com. We will be presenting the best of the bunch next month! Where's Pete and Jeramey? Pete Miner is still on the road, trucking around the U.S. and Canada, with no time to pull over and write a new column. If you see Pete, honk twice and tell him to hurry back! Jeramey Valley will be returning to the pages of My Mac next month with a new Tech Tips article, so check it out! Updates! The BLOCK 2.1, a powerful password protection system for Macintosh computers, is an update to add compatibility with Mac OS 8.5. Sundial 2.03 posted on the John Neil Associates website fixes all known Mac OS compatibility problems.
